The Good
The great thing about aluminium is that it’s lightweight and fairly robust. However this then means that when tables are made out of it they can be rather unsturdy. The most common aluminium camping table (see alternatives) is square with fold out legs and although it is one of the lightest and most compact models its very easy to knock over. The verso overcomes this by using thicker and so heavier aluminium legs which gives it a good solid feel. Yes it adds to the weight but feels the better for it. One of the downsides to aluminium is that it can scratch easily so if you are a bit precious about your gear this is not the table for you.
Cheaper aluminium tables can also feel like a mechano set when putting together but the Verso comprises of just two pieces with the table top slats being permanently linked together with a bike chain style mechanism. This fixing makes the top rigid and allows for up to 30kg of weight to be placed on top. The legs fold flat and the whole thing comes supplied with a heavy duty carry bag which should minimise scratches and marks.
Probably the best feature of this table is the ability to individually adjust the length of each table leg. Rarely are campsites completely flat and so being able to do this stops you having a wobbly table. Adjusting is also simple with the locking clips. With an adjusting range of 44 – 70cm this table can be used as a side as well as dining table.
The Bad
At 90 x 52 the table top isn’t particularly big. It’s a perfect size for a couple dining but could become a bit of a squeeze for four. At £40 it’s in the mid-high range bracket and for families you may want to look at a larger table which is made from fibreboard and is less prone to accidental damage for a similar price.

Verdict
The Kampa Verso shows that with aluminium you can create a sturdy camping table. The simple and solid design means you can erect this table in about 30 seconds which will certainly save headaches on the campsite and its compact pack size (92 x 14.5 x 17cm) means you will have plenty of space for other camping essentials in the car. Ideal for couples but not really big enough for a large family.
