Camping tables offer a number of purposes when camping from the obvious one of eating, to stove stands and even gamesboards! Getting the right size can be important but its also a good idea to get the smallest you can get away with as they can be bulky and heavy taking up valuable space in your car. Don’t get the size of table you would have at home as it will swamp your tent and camping is also about getting close with family and friends!

Plastic Tables

The cheapest and simplest type of camping table is made from plastic resin and is made by pretty much all camping manufacturers. The legs are constructed from hollow steel tube and clip into the plastic top for use and storage. Problems can occur with the leg grips snapping and some models collapsing when too much weight is placed on them. However they are a great budget option and are lightweight.

Folding Tables

The next style of table usually have a steel frame with steel fold out legs. The table top is then made from a thin sheet of fibreboard with some tables having a wipe clean surface sealed on to it. These are more robust and stable than resin and plastic models although additional weight comes from the fibreboard and steel. As the legs are perpendicular to the table top rather than angled they can take more weight.  Four person models are also available which usually fold in half much like a wallpaper pasting table.  As you would expect weaknesses can be found in the fold and so minimal weight should be put there.

Roll Top Tables

The next style of table uses a steel or aluminium frame with a fold out concertina style top that rolls out and clips or fixes onto the frame. Because the top folds up these are the most compact style of table and the aluminium models are extremely lightweight as well. However these are the most expensive tables to buy.

Adjustable Leg Tables

Adjustable leg tables are great for camping or uneven ground as each leg can be set to a different height thus avoiding the wobbly camping table! Many also have a thick fibreboard top which although heavy adds additional stability on uneven ground.
